“Every woman needs a purse of her own.”

This is one of the quotes that graces the Ms. Anthony bag, the Susan B. Anthony commemorative purse being sold as a fundraiser by the Susan B. Anthony House. The design of the faux-alligator bag is based on the alligator purse that Susan B. Anthony carried throughout her fight for suffrage.  Ms. Anthony considered a purse to be very important, because instead of being a fashion statement, it symbolized a woman’s financial independence.

Only 2000 of Susan B. Anthony purse are being sold and each purse is individually numbered.  At $250 each, I wish it was at least embossed leather rather than synthetic, but the money is going towards a great cause: celebrating and educating people about a woman without whom our lives might be much different.
