Anthropologie Alfresco Bag’s Major Flaw

March 26th, 2010 | Purse Spotlight

I recently fell in love with a bag from Anthropologie-the Alfresco Bag. It is a great neutral color, soft leather, adjustable from a tote into a smaller purse and comes with a snazzy printed scarf to liven it up.

I was entranced by the website description of it being the perfect bag for a trip to the market to buy a baguette for a picnic. It also had a five star rating on Anthroplogie’s website based on 16 reviews. I couldn’t go wrong, right?

I ordered it and waited with glee for it to arrive. Finally, it came and although the leather is beautiful and the bag is chic, I immediately noticed one fatal flaw.

As I mentioned earlier, the bag converts from a tote to a smaller purse. I was planning to carry it in the smaller purse version. What I didn’t realize is that to make that conversion you fasten a clip together that stretches across the inside of the bag.

So to go from big to small, you have to put up with this.

I mean, the whole point of having a big bag is so you can rummage around inside it. How are you supposed to rummage around with a big clip in the way? I figure for as much as this bag cost, I needed to really love it, so the Alfresco Bag is in the mail on the way back to Anthropologie.

What do you think? Would you have put up with it?

hmmmm. that would bother me a lot. anthropologie rarely disappoints, this is sad. you are so good about returning things if you are not happy, i would just be annoyed all the time.
