My favorite purse from high school was made for me by my friend, Emily, out of green velour and a pair of khaki pants, so there is a special place in my heart for handmade bags.
“Handmade” is sometimes interpreted as poorly made but Etsy is doing a lot to change that. Etsy. com is a site where artisans and craftspeople can sell their creations like jewelry, art, pottery and, yes, purses, along with vintage items and craft materials. Periodically I will be featuring Etsy products and sellers that will make you proud to say that your purse is handmade.
Our first Etsy spotlight is the seller AllyBu. AllyBu has a day job as an accountant and uses sewing as her creative outlet. She makes cute cotton hobos and wristlets in a variety of colorful patterns. They are just the kind of light and airy bags I want to carry after a winter full of dark leather. They are fully lined and have pockets to hold your assundry small stuff. Please check out her entire selection of products here.
