Alexander McQueen Wicca Velvet Shoulder Bag

August 1st, 2011 | Purse Spotlight

Alexander-McQueen-Wicca-velvet

One of the more beautiful designs to come from the house of Alexander McQueen lately, the Wicca velvet shoulder bag is a stand-out piece for fall. The plush velvet and rich fuchsia color of the Wicca Velvet Shoulder bag are in keeping with the opulence that McQueen is known for but are not so dramatic that it wouldn’t still look great with jeans and a sweater.

Available from Net-A-Porter for $1395.

My Affair with the Rebecca Minkoff Circle Quilt Affair

July 15th, 2011 | Purse Spotlight

Rebecca Minkoff handbagsUsually when I fall for a bag, after a few weeks my feelings change and I decide it’s not right for me. Well, my love for the Rebecca Minkoff Circle Quilt Affair started in January and has only grown stronger. This bag isn’t newly on the market-it’s been wooing me for several months.  And I keep telling myself that better bags will come along, but they haven’t. And now I’m afraid that when I finally decide I’m ready, the Circle Quilt Affair won’t be available.

What if this bag is the one and I miss my chance? I think maybe I should give this relationship a shot. What do you think?

The Rebecca Minkoff Circle Quilt Affair is available from Rebecca Minkoff for $325 but please don’t buy the last one.

Leather Anthropologie Handbags

July 11th, 2011 | Purse Spotlight

I just came across these two beautiful leather handbags from Anthropologie. The Rain Chain Bag and Bell Pepper Tote represent what I really love about Anthropologie-they are functional and cool but are not something you can walk into just any store to buy. And the best news? You can buy either of these now and enjoy them all the way through the fall.

I am always looking for great gift ideas that can also do some good so I was really excited to discover the UNICEF Feed Bags. UNICEF has partnered with big names like Judith Leiber and Disney to raise money for its FEED project, a program dedicated to providing food and medical care to people in need around the world.

The Judith Leiber FEED 1000 clutch is made of shimmery linen adorned with colored beading and the purchase of it provides 1000 school lunches for under-privileged children. You can buy it through Bergdorf Goodman for $495.

The Disney FEED Our Small World Tote was created in conjunction with the 45th anniversary of the Disney ride It’s a Small World and features the adorable Small World characters, representing children from many different cultures around the world. You can buy it from Nordstrom for $48 and each tote purchased will help UNICEF provide 500 children with Vitamin A supplements for one year.

Kate Spade Five Points Camille Handbag

Kate Spade handbags

Kate Spade New York’s color of the month for June is gold and my favorite of their Midas-inspired handbags is this version of the Kate Spade Five Points Camille. I think most people now realize how versatile a metallic bag can be and if you wear more gold that silver, the Camille could be a great addition to your wardrobe. It adds a pop of glamour to any ensemble, dressing up sundresses, dressing down evening wear and highlighting even the slightest hint of a tan.

Buy the Kate Spade Five Points Camille from Kate Spade New York for $495.

Coach Kristin Crossbody Purses

As they have been for the past few years, petite crossbody purses are all the rage this summer. Any why not? Crossbody purses keep your hands free and usually won’t overpower your outfit. I am thinking the trend will stick around so it might be worth it to invest a bit more in a bag that will look good for years. Enter the Coach Kristin Crossbody.

Coach’s Kristin handbags are my current favorites from the American classic brand and the the cross-bodies are the cutest of the collection. They are small enough to be unobtrusive but still have room for keys, cell phone, chap stick and other essentials. The Kristen cross-body comes in python embossed leather,  regular leather and also in an Ikat canvas that is the only version of the Coach “C” I’ve ever seen that I would consider carrying.

Prices range from $158-$228. Click on either picture for buying information.
