You guys know I love TJ Maxx and Marshalls holds a similarly special place in my heart. Though owned by the same company, I think the stores have different strengths-Marshalls has better clothes, TJ Maxx has better accessories.
While clothes shopping in Marshalls last weekend I did the obligatory walk through the purse section and was pleasantly surprised to see some really big names at huge discounts. I came across Kate Spade, Michael Kors, Matt & Nat, Hobo, Max & Cleo and several others. I went to Belk the next day and they were carrying Michael Kors bags that looked almost identical to one I had seen in Marshalls!
All this to say that there are great deals to be had and that you can be on a budget and still have a fabulous designer handbag!
Target has come through yet again with a selection of great spring and summer accessories at affordable prices. Since Cynthia Vincent, Zac Posen, Gautier, Liberty of London and several other designers have been teaming up with Target, the style quotient has increased dramatically. Even their standard lines like Merona have little more edge than they used to.
While some of the designer bags are priced in the $80 range, they still have some very affordable options that will take you through summer in style. Here are some that caught my eye. You can see all Target has to offer here.

Did anyone else get the catalog for the new L.L. Bean Signature Collection? Holy cow! L.L. Bean is going chic! No longer just plaid and parkas, the new collection has pencil skirts, wrap dresses and stacked heels. I think the Signature line is L.L. Bean’s attempt to reach demographic that they’ve been missing. So far they’ve got me.
The bags in the Signature Collection have classic L.L. Bean style with an updated look–washed canvas, nubuck, and leather with boat rope handles that definitely follow the current nautical trend.
Until April 26 they are offering a free $10 gift card with any purchase of $50 or more.
Liberty of London just released their new line of products for Target. Along with flowery bicycles, bedspreads and bikinis, Liberty of London has created a lovely line of handbags to usher in the spring. Prices range from $12.99 to $29.99 and there are several patterns and shapes to choose from.

Floral prints are big this year and you can deck yourself out head to toe in Liberty of London for Target! Anyone bought something from the Liberty of London line?
Update: Not sure why but the Billboard Tote is not available until September 5, 2010. Bummer.
I have a Talbots gift card to spend so I have been cruising their website and I must say that I’m impressed by Talbots spring line of purses. It’s not the place to buy a trendy or outrageous handbag but Talbots is a great option for classic, ladylike bags. They use traditional shapes and toss in bright blues and buttery yellows to spice it up. They also just released a series of python embossed bags, which is not really my style but still looks pretty darn cool.
The prices on their genuine leather bags are hard to beat especially for something that should be in style for years to come. So even if their flowery prints and conservative separates are not for you, Talbots’ handbags are worth checking out.
Now the big question is which one should I use my gift card on?
