Lottery Bag: Prada Saffiano Print Tote

April 12th, 2010 | Lottery Bags

I am starting a new series of posts called Lottery Bags. These bags are so named because the only way I could afford them or could possibly justify spending so much on a purse would be if I won the lottery. Seeing as how I don’t buy lottery tickets it is unlikely that I’ll win, but it’s always fun to dream.

First up, the Prada Saffiano Print Tote.

Prada Saffiano Print ToteIt doesn’t get much better than a classic shape with a funky yet versatile pattern. Prada has covered the tough leather exterior in a pattern that looks like it was painted on. It reminds me of a beautiful old wall paper pattern that might have been in the Biltmore Estate or a European palace.

The Prada Saffiano Print Tote can be yours for only $2,450. If you decide to buy it, pick one up for me too.

Radley London Sale

April 8th, 2010 | Purse Deals

My new favorite, Radley London, is having a sale on select spring handbags. It’s not their best stuff (because why would you put your best stuff on sale?) but it does involve a few pretty adorable bags. I’ve got my eye on the Farringdon Large Multi-way Bag-regularly $130 on sale for $94.

Radley London HandbagsI usually buy leather bags so nylon is a departure for me.  It seems like a pretty versatile bag but the question is, is it too sporty looking? Would it look okay with a sundress?

What do you think?

Etsy Spotlight: AllyBu

April 6th, 2010 | Etsy Spotlight

My favorite purse from high school was made for me by my friend, Emily, out of green velour and a pair of khaki pants, so there is a special place in my heart for handmade bags.

“Handmade” is sometimes interpreted as poorly made but Etsy is doing a lot to change that. Etsy. com is a site where artisans and craftspeople can sell their creations like jewelry, art, pottery and, yes, purses, along with vintage items and craft materials. Periodically I will be featuring Etsy products and sellers that will make you proud to say that your purse is handmade.

Handmade purseOur first Etsy spotlight is the seller AllyBu. AllyBu has a day job as an accountant and uses sewing as her creative outlet. She makes cute cotton hobos and wristlets in a variety of colorful patterns. They are just the kind of light and airy bags I want to carry after a winter full of dark leather. They are fully lined and have pockets to hold your assundry small stuff. Please check out her entire selection of products here.
